Bamboo Plants
Cultivating bamboo plants is something that can be rewarding,
but sometimes frustrating. While different variables play a role in
determining how fast all plants grow, this is especially true of bamboo
plants.
Bamboo plants are widely regarded to be some of the fastest-growing
plants available anywhere. In a meticulously controlled environment
bamboo has been measured to grow nearly four feet long in only 24 hours.
This, of course, was done in an environment that included ideal heat,
humidity and soil.
Although most bamboo plants do not grow this quickly, it is true that
they do grow rapidly. The typical bamboo plant can grow as much as one
foot in 24 hours in good conditions. Some bamboo plants have been measured
to grow as long as 60 to 80 feet in less than 100 days.
Of course, bamboo plants do not exactly grow overnight. Even though
they can grow rapidly in one day, the one day that they grow rapidly
might not be until they are already three years old. During the first
year, the bamboo hardly grows at all. The second year sees more growth,
albeit slow. The third year is when most bamboo plants really start
to shoot out and grow at an accelerated rate.
